Hand Tally Season is Here

Hand Tally Season is Here

This month, SR2S has been working hard to collect hand tallies from school participants and the responses have gradually rolled in. We are pleased to report that many schools have been helping to collect this valuable data that will certainly improve Safe Routes to Schools program delivery. Site Coordinators and other staff have been helping too.

As a staff member who has been assisting schools needing assistance with hand tallies, I enjoy the time I get to spend in classrooms. Personally, I was jazzed to see the hands go up when I conducted tallies on rainy days. As you know, weather can greatly impact the walking and bicycling. As the raining season brings more needed precipitation into the Bay Area, I want to encourage students to keep walking, rolling and taking transit safely and commend those who are already doing it!

Parents and students, check out these walking tips from our National Center for Safe Routes to School. Teachers and administrators, make use of our Event Resources to brainstorm monthly walking themes ideas for November and December! We want you to have fun out there but remember, safety first!
