Rail Safety Presentations for Students
Our student programming is aimed at raising awareness about trespassing and teaching safe behaviors when walking or bicycling near railroads. Student training ranges from 15 to 40 minute sessions and offers highly useful information on actions that emphasize safe behaviors around railroad tracks. We offer the following in-class training options to ensure age-appropriate content:
Grades K-5
Rail safety training for elementary students focuses on teaching safe behaviors near trains and railroad tracks and the laws that govern railroad tracks. This training uses fun and hands on activities to engage this age group effectively while teaching fundamental safety behaviors. This 15 to 30-minute training fits nicely into a class session, a school assembly, or a tabling opportunity at a school event.
Grades 6-8
Rail safety training for middle school students focuses on teaching safe behaviors near trains and railroad tracks and the laws that govern railroad tracks. This training engages students with multimedia and interactive activities, while teaching fundamental safety behaviors. This 30 to 40-minute training fits nicely into a PE class or regular class, a club or student council meeting, a school assembly, or other school events.
Grades 9-12
Rail safety training for high school students also focuses on teaching safe behaviors near trains and railroad tracks and the laws that govern railroad tracks. This training engages students with multimedia activities and an interactive presentation that teach fundamental safety behaviors near rail. This 30 to 40-minute presentation is offered as a school assembly format.
Raising awareness and offering safety education for adults is also important. We offer resources for adults that include fact sheets, posters, and flyers (see below). We can also provide safety information at community events.
