Our Program
Are you concerned about traffic around your school and how it impacts the safety of your students? Do you want to make it easier for kids to realize the benefits of walking or riding a bike to school? If so, we invite you to join the Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools (SR2S) Program!
SR2S provides free staff support, resources, and tools to assist in organizing fun, educational activities that encourage students and families to walk, bike, carpool, and take transit to school. The program is dedicated to reducing traffic congestion and making our communities healthier and safer for all.
Once you fill out our quick online enrollment form, you will be assigned a local SR2S site coordinator who will meet with you to hear about transportation interests and concerns at your school and then work with you to bring in the programs that best fit your school’s needs. We’ll also help get parents, students, and staff involved to build a fun and encouraging culture of active and safe travel to and from school.
Anyone from your school can fill out the enrollment form; it does not have to be your principal. Once it’s filled out, check out the range of programming we can bring to your school. We’ll be in touch promptly!
